Carbon Profile Analysis

The Central West Forestry Hub undertook a detailed project to assess the carbon sequestration potential of each productivity class, aiming for net zero emissions. This comprehensive analysis involved 7,500 FullCAM simulations, conducted to determine average carbon sequestration values for the region’s plantations, contributing to a carbon neutral outcome.

Carbon Footprint Report

Faraway aerial view of a thick green pine forest.

This report uncovers how the forestry industry not only achieves carbon neutrality but surpasses it, becoming carbon negative, highlighting the environmental benefits of the region’s forestry practices. From planting and managing Radiata pine to harvesting, processing, and manufacturing wood products, the findings present a sustainable outcome.

Landowner Plantation Assessment Tool

The CWFH has created the Landowner Plantation Evaluation Tool (LPET) to help landholders understand the potential cash flows and timing of a plantation forestry operation on their land. This tool is intended for educational purposes and does not provide investment advice.

Plantation Capability Mapping Report

Expanding the plantation estate is a shared goal of the Hub’s industry members and the Government. To assess land suitability, maps have been created that categorise land into productivity bands for potential pine plantations.

Plantation Productivity and Utilisation Report

This report provides a comprehensive assessment of opportunities to enhance plantation and forest productivity, utilisation, and the recovery of agricultural produce and farmed goods. It outlines suggested improvements, along with their estimated impacts, focused on boosting yields, improving efficiency, and optimising resource allocation.

Spatial Database Report

Serving as a key area for plantation forestry since the early 20th century, the Central West region has limited public information on plantations outside of Forestry Corporation holdings. To address this gap, the Hub has developed a geographic information system (GIS) database of existing plantations within its boundaries, supported by a detailed methodology and report.
